Genius Hour Mini-Course
A Short Guide to Starting Genius Hour in Your Classroom
Genius Hour Mini-Course
Student motivation low? Engagement down? I dealt with these issues as a classroom teacher, and then everything changed in 2012.
Enter Genius Hour.
Genius Hour is a project where students get to choose what they want to learn. They follow their passions, learn with a purpose, and create a product to share with a real audience.
When my students started with Genius Hour I wasn't sure what would happen, but it changed their learning lives, and my teaching career. I learned a lot that first year, and have since rolled out Genius Hour at a grade level and district level. I've worked with Kindergarten teachers, Middle School teachers, and varying subjects at the High School level.
Each time, Genius Hour takes learning, creating, and making to another level. Inspiring students to do work they care about, even if it is challenging.
In this short starter course, I share videos and resources to get you going with Genius Hour right now! I've also got a Genius Hour MASTER Course that dives into even more detail (with 70 videos, lesson plans, unit plans, and resources for every stage). You can check it out here.
